Spa Day

I had this idea back around Valentine's Day and am finally just now executing it (executing? That sounds kind of brutal, doesn't it. Well, it's not brutal, it's BEAUTIFUL). SPA DAY.

I blendered up some steamed carrots, yogurt, oatmeal, bananas, and almond oil for the face mask. I basically just raided the fridge, and I'm glad I didn't go out and buy anything special, because only two of the seven or so kids that were here wanted to do the facial masks. Finger and toenail polish was a much bigger hit... every single kid is now sporting sparkly blue or purple or red nails...

We made our galvanized metal horse trough/swimming pool into a bubble bath strewn with rose petals, and added some of our homemade bath salts (did you know how easy peasy it is to make bath salts? 1 part rock salt, 1 part epsom salts, and your choice of essential oils). Jack mixed up the bath salts and we gave everyone a fancy little sack as a parting gift. He enjoyed the making of these the most, and also making Sunrise Lemonade from the Molly Katzen's fantastic cookbook, Salad People, to serve to our guests. Though most of this piffery were just a spiffed up average playdate with screaming, singing, swinging, and chasing as the main attractions. That's OK... sometimes I think it's us adults that need to do this stuff to stave off the boredom the most, don't you know...
